We're working on a new banner for the Spanish-speaking guide to gambling I founded, Las Apuestas. Much like this site and Wizard of Macau, we would like some significant landmarks to put in the background. Here are some examples from pictures I've taken. Click on any image for a larger version.

To make this fun, please try to name these landmarks. Don't cheat by looking at the image names.

The main purpose of this thread is to suggest any other landmarks from Spanish-speaking countries, especially those not represented below.

Que pasa un buen dia.

Perhaps images of churches should be avoided on a gambling themed site targeting a largely Catholic, Spanish speaking audience. It may be offensive and keep folks from engaging.

Thanks. Sorry 'bout that.

I haven't been to that site in a while (after all, I neither read nor speak Spanish).

However, I miss the Mexican looking Wizard avatar on that banner.

Plaza Mayor in Madrid is the center of the city (423 ft × 308 ft), and is surrounded by three-story residential buildings having 237 balconies facing the Plaza. It was built at the end of the 16th and beginning of 17th century. The scene of auto de fes during the inquisition and numerous other historical events.

Ronda is one of the earliest cities in Spain. It was valued because the canyon (390' deep) made it easily defensible. In prehistory they found rock paintings from the the Neolithic Age, then settled by Celts 2.5 thousand years ago, then Phoenicians, then Romans in the Second Punic War, then the Suebi (Germanic people), then the Eastern Roman Empire, then the Visigoths, then the Arabs. It briefly became the capital of a small kingdom ruled by the Berber Banu Ifran when most of the Islamic architectural standing today. In 1065 Ronda was conquered by the taifa of Seville led by Abbad II al-Mu'tadid. In 1485, when it was conquered by the Marquis of Cádiz after a brief siege. The famous scene in Chapter 10 of Hemingway's "For Whom the Bell Tolls", describing the 1936 execution of Fascists in a (fictional) village who are thrown off a cliff, is considered to be modeled on actual events at the time in Ronda. The spectacular New Bridge was started in 1751 and took 40 years to build.

The Osborne sherry company erected large images of bulls starting in 1956 to advertise their product in Southern Spain. To comply with new EU rules about advertising liquor there are no references any more to their original intent. As a roadside advertising campaign (90 of them in Spain) it is one of the most famous in the world and copied in many countries. They were going to build one in Dallas TX, but I don't know if it was completed.
