I have a feeling this will be just like De La Hoya-Trinidad in the fact that there won't even be public tickets. I hope there will be a sale but my guess is if you have any favors built up with MGM hosts, better start calling.

Also get your hotel reservations in fast - prices are already at least double the normal weekend rate at some places.

I do wonder why they would choose Kentucky Derby Day to have a major fight; wouldn't there already be enough action at the sports books?

I desperately wanted to see this fight....................six years ago. Now you have two people past their primes, and sadly this fight will not live up to the hype. If both of these people could have gotten together when both of them were at the top of their games this would have been truly special. This just continues to show me all the things that drove most of the public away from boxing.

+1

I am a fan of the sweet science, and concur.

I watched Manny get beat a few years ago at MGM, and don't care to pay to watch it happen again.

I had been looking forward to it, but agree: the bloom is off the rose.

I was at the MGM for a major fight once (coinciding meeting in Vegas) and even happened to be on the elevator with one of the fighters. They had tickets to the actual venue available, a CC feed in a large room where they could put up big screens while serving food and drink (ticketed event), and some type of CC feed through the hotel television system they could assign to your room/suite/private party/whatever. Don't know about any commercial feed for surrounding hotels or competitors, I think they do offer PPV for an event and bill your room - at least I've seen things like that on the menu at places with control boxes where you can order movies or premium channels.

Cool.

I have been to enough events like Superbowl and big fights so its out of my system. I would rather get a suite order/bring food and watch with friends over going to a viewing party or event.

I think Mayweather chose the date as he likes to fight on "Cinco de Mayo", a Mexican holiday, the 5th being the actual holiday date but of course, 2nd is a Saturday night.

I saw the current odds. Mayweather minus 275, Pacman plus 235.

PPV reported to be close to $100.usd. In theory anyhow, being discussed.

Yeah. There's always one of the biggest fights of the year that weekend and it's one of the best times to be in Vegas, with the Derby, Cinco De Mayo and the big fight atmosphere combined. It's going to be great.

As for the guys being past their primes, it is true that they are. But at the same time, Floyd is still generally regarded as the number one pound for pound fighter in the world and Manny is still in the top 5. This is not a washed up Tyson fighting Lewis. They are two all time greats. This is a great fight. It might be the last boxing match of this magnitude we ever see, so why ruin it by being petty?

The odds are reasonably close, so if you don't think Manny has a chance, scoop up all the free money you can handle!

Interesting. I seriously doubt the tickets have actually been printed and/or of course, available as mentioned to the general public. I assume this ticket broker is just taking reservations hoping or knowing? they can make some money on the spread. Naturally, as often happens including the last Super Bowl, people end up without tickets and in some instances don't get their money back. I've be very careful dealing with a broker this early and in my case, at all. Let the casino comp you a ticket or two. If you are a big enough player should be no problem. How big?

How big a player for a comp room and tickets to this fight?

My guess......$100,000. credit line with a history of paying your debts and $1000.usd average bet not counting odds on the craps table. But what is the real number? Anyone know?

Mayweather sticks and moves his way to a decision. The early money has come in on Pacquaio dropping the line down to Mayweather -200, Pacquaio +170. But I think the smart money is waiting for the line to drop even further.

Last big fight I was contacted by MGM host, Robert D., you are about right, well over $100k LOC or FM and an average wager within the MGM family of anywhere from $2.5 to $5k average wager depending on theo, game played and win/loss, etc. I am not much of a fight fan, guess I had my share in the Bronx and East New York/Bed Sty, anyways. But you are about right.

How far in advance do they announce who the judges for the fight will be?

My gut says that, while Mayweather is going to appear to win a clear decision, this is going to end up a draw. (If it is a draw, the Vegas books still treat all bets on either boxer to win as pushes (I know some overseas books treat a draw as "all bets on either fighter lose" if betting on a draw was available), in addition to paying off the bets on a draw, right?)

Then again, my other gut tells me that something is going to happen before May 2 and this fight isn't going to take place as scheduled.

Saw coverage of a "red carpet" event promoting the fight. Both fighters were very cordial, and complementary of each other.

My tinfoil hat says Pacman will appear to win but will actually lose a split decision. I think that result maximizes the take on the actual "fight of the century" which will be a billion dollar rematch in 2016.

These fighters are past their pull date, at least they would have been back in the heyday of professional boxing.

What, are they going to prop themselves up with the ropes in 2016 and beat each other with their canes?

I just got an "offer" of two tickets and a room at the MGM for three nights during the fight weekend, this coming weekend.
