I caught this article by the Wizard called Harrah’s Total Rewards 101 in Casino Player Magazine.

INTRO
Wherever you choose to play, understanding how the casino’s player reward program works is always advisable. Not only do you earn points for your play, which can be used for comps and sometimes free play or cash, but you can also expect to get valuable offers by mail from the casino, in accordance with the level of your play.

The better you understand how your program works, the more you can expect to get out of it. In my experience, one of the trickier programs to fully comprehend is Harrah’s Total Reward program. Base credits, bonus reward credits, tier credits…it can get a bit confusing. The purpose of this article is to explain the basics.

Thanks for the link. That is the first I've read it. I was afraid Casino Player might dull some of the sharper edges, but it looks like they kept it in tact. By the way, most of that information first appeared in my Harrah's review right here.

Excellent info for many here considering that Harrah's properties are located throughout the entire country.

One thing I am not sure of. I earned platinum in 2010 in August. That means I exceed 4000 tier points at that time, (not platinum in a day). Do I now maintain platinum for all of 2011 or does it expire in March. I've heard that platinum or diamond in a day expires in March, but if you got the required points through out the year then they are good for all of the following year.

As far as I know, you are good until 12/31/11. I have not heard that if your level was attained by the "in a day" shortcut it doesn't last as long, but I don't claim to know everything about Harrah's rewards program.

Fairly certain that with the "in a day" it lasts through the entire 2011 calendar year.

Your 2010 level (platinum) will be good until March 2012. You have all of 2011 to get your 4,000 points again. If you do, your platinum level will be good until March 2013. If you fail to earn 4,000 points in 2011, you will have platinum until March 2012. If you can make 4,000 points in Jan. ,Feb, or March of 2012, then you will still be platinum, however, you will not get credit for any points you earned in 2011 that were short of 4,000. You will have to do it all in the 3 months of 2012.

Don't forget though, you have to visit a Harrah's property at least once every 6 months, or you will lose your Reward Credits that are in the bank.
