I won a gift certificate to the Ghostbar, which has very little appeal to me. It is for a complimentary bottle and table for two guests. It is valid until 10/30/2014. Blackout dates may apply for major holidays and convention periods. There is a phone number on the certificate to the executive office to make the arrangements.

I'm hoping to get at least $500 for it. Anybody interested?

The first tip to successful negotiating is not to state, in the first sentence of your pitch, that the item being sold has little appeal to you.

"I've got a nice suite, queen-size bed, pillow-top mattress, 37" LCD HDTV with a built-in DVD player, Microwave, Refrigerator and Coffeemaker in the room..."

vs.

"I've got a room with a Queen-size bed, TV's okay, cleanliness is going to be between a 5/10 and 7/10 depending on who I had on the floor that day, you might need to call me for an iron, someone might have stolen the one in there, happens all the time. Alarm clock, same thing, people are always jacking alarm clocks. There's a fridge, doesn't have a freezer section, though. Water pressure's a bit iffy around 5:00a.m., from what I've heard, might want to schedule around that..."

Just sayin'...

You got me there! A good salesman I am not. Lousy buyer too. I don't think I could bargain down the price of a sombrero in a Tijuana gift shop.

About $1,000 I think.

Just curious, why is this valued so much? Its just a nightclub. I'm not really a nightclub person unless there is live music from a great band, then I'm interested.
My understanding is a lot of the Vegas nightclubs don't really have live bands or live music. I don't consider DJ music as live music.
Now if there was a Led Zep reunion show on stage with 3 original members, yea I might consider 1k. Otherwise, that's a lot of money for a table, 2 seats and a bottle for someone that doesn't really drink alcohol.
Is it a status thing? Need some education please.
Its just a forum. Nothing here to get obsessed about.

yep mostly a status type thing. When you buy a bottle you are paying 10x what the bottle costs at the liquor store. I will say that there are a ton of hot woman and it is definitely a great place to find a hook up. I recommend having a room in the hotel where the club is if a hook up is your goal.

LOL Wizard, like Mission said stick to your Math instead of sales.

I will help out a little. The ghost bar is situated atop of the Palms Casino. It has a great view of the strip.

Here are some reviews that say how awesome GB is.

That is why I valued it at $1,000. I hear that is what a bottle costs in such places. I'm not sure what the rules are to get a table, but I think you have to promise to purchase at least one. I'm not sure what kind of table they meant, but when I've been to the Ghost Bar, they comfortably sat four people. It would be tough for just two people to consume a whole bottle of vodka.

Given that you like the place so much, the high bid stands at $300.

From what I researched, the minimum bottle charge was 325 and a 2 bottle minimum was required for a table. Now this info was from 2006 and for a table of 4(while this pass is for a table of 2) so I'm sure adjustments are needed.

The real question is the value of the bottle they let you have for free. If you can get some super rare vintage that time forgot, it's obviously better than if they only let you choose from the dark match stuff.

Like people said you are getting real estate, status and you bypass the waiting in line and being subjected to the doorman's criterion.

Totally agree with terapined. I think all this DJ stuff today is crap.

Totally agree with terapined again. God, this is a scary trend. ;) (j/k)

Then again, $1K would probably only get the nosebleed seats at a concert like that...haha!

I am still trying to get rid of this Ghost Bar certificate, which expires on October 30. If anyone is interested, please let me know. I'm a motivated seller.

Coaching: which I won't be able to use would be a better sales pitch.

Most of sales is just letting the other guy buy it before you talk him out of reaching for his wallet.
May the cards fall in your favor.

I have a question about this. If it only includes one bottle, how do you figure that it's worth $1000? Even at the more expensive nightclubs, you can get bottles in the $400 to $500 range. And getting bottles always gets you the "free" entry and table.

I have no idea what the bottles go for at Ghostbar, but I would guess that they are in the $350 range. At cheaper places (downtown) you can get them for at little as $200.

One of my favorite things to do in Vegas (and pretty much the only time I leave the strip) is to head to Insert Coin(s) with a couple of friends, get a bottle of bourbon ($200, including a $50 service charge so the servers are taken care of) and a booth, and play video games all night while smoking and drinking. There is a good place to get pizza and wings close by too, and they don't mind if you bring food in. It's kind of nice to get away from all the fake people on the strip sometimes and have a more laid-back night out. That place gets an interesting mix of locals and tourists; I have met some cool people there.

I think you would have no problem selling this on any other forum. Sadly, this forum doesn't seem to attract the type of people that go to Ghostbar. If it was a certificate for the Star Trek Experience you would probably have multiple bids.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.
