I developed a new way to look at the Baccarat boom of the last 12 months. The blue bars show the historical context, and the wide bars show the year over year jump.

I want to highlight how small the jump was in April compared to the previous 10 months. Last June was a tiny 1% jump.

I think that April reflect the new competition with Singapore and Wynn Encore Macau. Baccarat may start to go down next month.

Since baccarat is the only thing keeping the growth on the strip slightly positive (0.55%) for this fiscal year, I would say that this is bad news for MGM-MIRAGE. Jim Murren announced in February that they were now the Vegas leaders in high end baccarat play with 50% of the market. If they are losing money at this rate, then what if the baccarat play runs to Asia even more.

Is this presentation clear? I will add a bar with black or red arrows in May and June when data is released.

I think we all get the James Bond reference, but the chart itself is a train wreck.

Your year starts in May, and is 14 months long?

Some months don't have a blue line?

Some months don't have an arrow?

It took me several looks to figure out that the little graphic near the top of February is "Chinese New Year - Year of the Lion". At least that want I THINK that means!

NO.
I invented a few casino games. Info: http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com/ ————————————————————————————————————— Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁

Thanks for your candor it will help me improve the graph.

1) I began the chart in May 2009 because that is when the radical jumps in baccarat gaming began
2) I ended it in June at the end of the fiscal year
3) If a month does not have blue line it is because the most recent 12 month jump covers all data as far back as 2006
4) The months that don't have an arrow were June 2009 because the increase was only 1%. May and June of 2010 haven't been reported yet.
5) I thought the Chinese New Year's would be obvious, but I will put a label.
