Just like the title says...is it worth $5 a night more to stay at The Orleans vs Sams Town? (I can get 4 nights at Sams Town for $140 and 4 nights at Orleans for $160)
?
I've stayed at Orleans in the past; however I have not stayed at Sams Town (wouldn't mind trying it out; but I know Orleans, and I liked Orleans...)

Heck, ain't all that much difference between the two places and I wouldn't split a very fine hair, particularly for five bucks!

I think you should be happy at either one and content to remain there rather than using up that five bucks in travel time/charges/annoyances.

If you know that you will be gambling at Orleans then stay there and pay the extra five bucks a night.

I always laugh when people worry about $5 a night when they're going to be gambling with hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars at the casino downstairs. Certainly, with 4 hours of $5 BJ a day at 3 or 4 days, you're looking at action of about $6,000 - $8,000.

Pick your favorite hotel, and stay there, and set your loss limit $x times the number of days you'll be losing out higher.

I laugh at myself for the same reason; I'll fret about saving a buck at the grocery story but won't blink when i lose 6 blackjack hands / pass line / pai gow bets in a row.

This is a classic post boymimbo. I bet you(LOL) that at least 75% or more of us do the same thing. I can drop $100 on in less than half an hour on BJ or whatever game I am playing yet I will drive 20 minutes out of my way to save three cents a gallon on gas!

The value of money changes when it's a wager rather than an expense.

Since I see you're mostly a Craps and VP player, I'd suggest you give Sam's Town a whirl.

They have pretty good VP at all denominations, 50 and 100 play machines and DW at >100% payback ( a bank back by the Movie Theater).

The Craps table has $3 minimum and 10X odds.

You could also Bowl or go to the Movies.

If you got bored, The Eastside Cannery is right next door(a short walk).

They also have free bus service to The Cal and Fremont every 45 minutes and, I believe, Harrah's on the strip every 45 minutes too.

I really liked being out of town but knowing I could be Downtown or on the Strip in a short time was comforting.
I don't know everything but I know a lot.

Did you factor in the resort fees? Orleans is $1.50 more per night. (Hey if we are splitting hairs...!)

It probably doesn't matter. I haven't stayed in either. I have spent more time gambling in Sam's Town, so I guess you could deduce I like their casino more.

That's where the difference comes from, really...
I've stayed at Orleans..all of their rooms are "Petite Suites" which I LIKE...
However Sams Town looks neat (gambled there previously a little) and like others have said, Eastside Cannery is RIGHT THERE, as well as Sunset Station...
With Orleans, NOTHING is close except maybe the Rio/GC...

I think you would be closer to the strip at the Orleans. I know they both have shuttles but the Orleans shuttle would be a much shorter distance. Also I do not think you would have an option for shuttle to Sunset Station from Sam's Town and it is a bit of a distance. You might want to check Gold Coast to be even closer and easier to the strip. Still a Boyd property.
