Today I received the following offer from Treasure Island:
Complimentary Petite Suite for Three Nights
$400 in TI Promotional Chips (play 'em until you lose 'em)
Receive another $500 in TI Promotional Chips with "$2,000 in Earned Play at TI*"
*Earned play is equal to your average bet times hours played during your current stay.
Hurry, call TI Casino Marketing today about your offer!

The only reason I ask is because last time I visited Vegas I spent about 3 hours in Treasure Island playing Pai Gow Tiles and Baccarat. I was betting around 100 per hand.

I mainly stay and play at mgm mirage properties where my average bet and time is higher.

Does Treasure Island still get any data from mgm-mirage?

Yes! I went in there about a month ago, after not betting a dime there since MGM sold it. When I asked for a free entry into a $100,000 blackjack tournament they looked up my play based on my MGM card number, and they obviously found it. The host signed me up immediately, no begging required.

Can you book stays at both Treasure Island and an MGM-Mirage Property? I usually book several rooms. One at a harrahs property and one at an mgm mirage property. This allows me to take advantage of multiple promo offers simultaneously.

I think so. As far as I know, the TI is completely independent now.

Can someone explain to me what promotional chips are?

From your short description, it seems that they're just for plain fun. You can't win a dime off of them.

That is great news. I am beginning to plan my next trip for the end of April. I will let the board know if there is any complications with booking Comp offers at both TI and an MGM Mirage property simultaneously.

Promotional chips play like normal chips but they can not be redeemed at the cage. You have to play them till you lose them. The wizard has an article on these chips Here
While my offers say promotional chips I have always been given what the Wizard describes as non-negotiable chips. I have gotten these chips over 10 times and my promotional offer has always said promotional chips.

There is a real need for consistency in terminology on non-cashable chips. It seems to me the use till you lose chips are more often referred to as "promotional" chips, where they used to be called "non-negotiable" chips. So I may change my own terminology.

What may have something to do with this is a player entered a tournament at the Hard Rock and won. He was given the use once chips, and he complained, saying the invitation made no mention of prizes being in the half-value kind of chip. To my surprise, and agreement, he won the complaint with Gaming too.

I read the Wizard's article on them, so in his terminology promotional chips are basically non-negs that you don't get back on a win? But in both cases, you keep what you win.

I see, so giving a player $500 in non-negs is like the casino giving someone basically $250 to play, with the hope that they'll continue with cash afterwards?

Yes.

No. "Promotional" chips are the ones that are worth slightly less than half. "Non-negs" are worth almost full face value.
