I have watched many Green Bay games this year. They are the best team in the league, but they do not appear invincible. They will barely be favorites in Detroit, and once they wrap up home field they will be only slight favorites in those 2 or 3 games. I would say they have about a 10% chance of going undefeated, and would bet the "nos' at -690.

Good point. Should they succumb to the Indianapolis Curse, they shoulnd't even win the Super Bowl.

Does anyone know what's the philosophy of GB's coach on that? For that matter what did they do last season?

They were a wild card last season and needed to win out to make the playoffs. No sitting players. They only MADE the playoffs because the Lions beat the 10 and 5 Buccaneers (and they beat da Bears 10-3). Their team was hit by injuries as well, so there wasn't much option to sit starters. On the other hand this meant some of their players hadn't had to play 16 ganes so far.

Sitting your team in week 17 is a weak sauce idea. Maybe you don't go balls out, maybe you don't run up the score in the 3rd quarter, but you do play football. Playing football at half commitment is more dangerous, and losing that edge even for one game... you see how much it hurts some guys who sit out pre season...

The NFL did make changes to make week 17 all divisional games this year.

(IF the Lions win out (hahahaha), the week 17 game will be for the division. It won't be... the Lions are a 10-6 team at best, and without Best it's harder to get there).

Anyways, at 6-1 (+700) I might have a small piece of the 16-0 dream. I already have Texans/Lions as my money superbowl picks... it's not like I'm very good at picking...

I guess this is a measure of how conservative or fearful a head coach is. The calculation is that no matter how it degrades a player to sit out a game, it hurts the team less than to lose the player to an injury.

The Lions may get to the Super Bowl. But the world will end right afterwards.

Yeah, but I bet those mystics never thought the destruction would come in the form of a sartorially impaired football team. I guess in the scale of such things, though, they rank above the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man :)
