| fremont4ever Member since: Nov 24, 2009 Threads: 5 Posts: 118 | For now, my favorite slot is the original The Price Is Right nickel video slots. The hit frequency is good (IMO), the bonus games are engaging, the sound effects are nice, and hearing Rod Roddy's voice just does something to me (he's dead, y'know). The last time I checked, the Mirage had 10 of them, and the Golden Nugget four. It's nearly 10 years old now, and there's a new version done by a different manufacturer, so they're getting scarce. Good as the TPIR bonus games are, my favorite is on a relatively obscure machine called Latino Machino. The Cucaracha Bonus hits when two Cucarachas (wild) hit anywhere on the 1st and 5th reels. During the bonus, the wilds go from spot to spot, making payable hits on the way. Let's say the reels are set up like this: 12345 6789A BCDEF And I hit Las Cucarachas on positions "B" and "A". This would trigger the bonus. The Cucaracha would first go to position 1 (while A and B remain wild) and see if it makes a winning hit. If it does, it pauses to pay. If it doesn't, it just moves on. Then it goes to 6, B, 2, 7, and so on. I'm making it sound dry, but it's actually very exciting. The music and cartoonish characters are nice too. Unfortunately, I haven't seen it often in casinos (you can guess why). |

Hot Shots is so frustrating because I can't tell you the number of times I've gotten the bonus and won a grand total of ZERO. A bonus should be worth something, and not just enough to cover the cost of one spin. But I did hit the $200+ progressive the first time I played. I'm not so fond of bonuses that are just free spins of the regular reels even though I won $600 on a Quicksilver that way. I like a second screen or an extra wheel or something. Even those ones that just randomly yell out "Instant Spin Winner!!" I've found one machine at the Rio that likes me and I tend to head over to it and plop in a twenty and cash out when I'm up 50 every once in a while even though it's not as fun as the ones that you get to DO something. And I'm a sucker for those 50-play video poker machines even though the paytables suck. Each of us is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts.

Then imagine the fun you'll have when you discover the 100-play VP machines. "Poker sure is an easy game to beat if you have the roll to keep rebuying." |

I have! But since it costs 250 for 50 hands at the penny level and quads pay 250, it's easy to keep your bankroll going quite a long time playing 50 hands. I play them for fun, not profit. I enjoy Triple Double Bonus but it's too volatile to play one hand at a time at the quarter level so I indulge myself cheaply. Each of us is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts.

I'd nominate this game for the strangest bonus round. You have to uncover the bonus in a pile of sand so all of a sudden you have a whole bank of people pounding the tar out of their monitor. I think its one of the funniest things I've seen in a casino. If you've never seen it this YouTube video shows the bonus, (except most people use two hands 'cause they don't have one tied up with a video camera...) |

I think that the good witch arriving in a ball of light traumatized me as a child, and now the "Glinda Bonus" is my favorite experience on a slot floor (well, except maybe for when the cocktail waitress finally show up). Also, last time he was in Vegas my son won a few hundred from the one in Orleans. For Mrs. Mark it's Pompeii. Between "Veni, Vedi, Veci" and the ground shaking on a big win, she's just all into it. |

You can choose when to take your bonus and the jingle they sing is pretty sweet. Manhattan Transfer style. I could listen to that music all day! [Profile updated... more to come] |

However, they have been removed from both venues. It is a 4 row by 5 column that wins a jackpot with a wild scattered in each column. I found that most players gave up quickly because the non-jackpot wins are low and the machine is tight. However, if I was slow and patient, jackpot screens appeared often. I won $6,000 in two weeks with only $300 "invested" at Foxwoods. When I returned a few months later, the machines were gone. |
