Today's show features our own Michael Bluejay. He has been a bit quiet lately, but you may remember him from the 98steps challenge thread. We discuss a host of ways to save money and various advantage plays from his bag of tricks. You'll have to forgive all the coughing as I've been sick all week with a nasty cold. All the shows are archived at wizardofodds.com/audio/.

I welcome your comments and I'm sure Michael will be interested to read them too.

You did the show with a cold? I'm sure I'll have lots of comments,
I always have comments when I read Bluejay's page. I have no
audio on this computer right now, so I might have to go to the library.
I would use my wifes laptop but she's back east so I'm screwed.

That sure opens things up for potentially-offensive comments. I think I'll pass.

some questions for mr. Bluejay, altho I have about 1/3 of the show to go to finish. BTW thank you for a useful and informative website.

* aren't you the guy who says your chances of making a million are better by parlaying for broke a bet at, say, craps .. than by putting the same money on a state lottery with a million dollar jackpot?

* is it really true that flying is an enviro-crime, helping destroy the planet? Can you back that up or is it just a hunch?

PS: wanted to post this link, a show mention

http://bicyclesafe.com/

PPS: recently I almost got a cyclist with "The Right Hook, Pt. 2" ... I was pulling over after spotting a pedestrian I knew. The cyclist decided he should pass me on the right when I started slowing down! Luckily I heard the grinding sound bike tires make when the rider hits the brakes.

Hippie type, I guess. You know: Save the planet, eat mung sprouts, don't consume, recycle, save the whales and save the bedbugs or whatever it is. US out of Vietnam and all that sort of stuff. Eat Vegetables and live in a world of sandals and beads all day long.

Why don't we just concentrate on his gambling related advice which seemed pretty good. Travel arrangements and day selections do make a difference. Although it seems to start arguments here and else where CardCounting takes a huge bankroll to do well.

His minimal strategy on his website for Blackjack has been helpful to me as has his Gambler's Ruin charts.

Wizard,
I have heard you mention the radio show before, but just tonight I listened to this episode as the first time hearing the show. It was interesting.

If I may be a little critical is was a bit dry. OTOH, I enjoyed the show, and will listen to more of the archives, as well as look forward to future shows.

I suggest that you do a trivia question each show.......

Keep up the good work, it seems that you try hard to spread knowledge.

I know this is a year old, but I wanted to apologize for my performance on the show. The main thing is that I don't have much that's interesting to share about gambling that works in a radio show format. (Now, I have some good stories about the Wizard, THAT might be a good avenue.) Also, it's hard to do an interview by phone when neither side can see each other, and that was compounded by the Internet phone I was using which adds at least a half-second delay, ugh.

I would have liked getting the enviro questions, though. That's where I'm at my strongest. Of course that has nothing to do with gambling, which I assume is why we didn't go there.

That green environment stuff, it's all as much a hoax as Obama has proven to be to the American people, only he's smarter than all those entitlement seekers he's continually been able to trick into voting for him. Even that hypocrite Gore just sold out to big foreign oil just to get richer.

Yep, I handed the reins over to JB a couple of years ago. He's quite skilled!

About environmental stuff being a "hoax", what, you think poisoned rivers, for example, is a hoax? How about poisoned air? I presume you've never been to Beijing or New Dehli (as I have).

Good job ignoring the actual question. That speaks volumes.

But I'll bite: You posit that global warming is not simply wrong, it's actually a *hoax*. Do you actually believe that *thousands* of climate scientists, comprising 98% or so of them, are able to effect such a wide-ranging, global conspiracy?

Oh, absolutely. Most of them were duped by existing
wrong science.

So which is it: The world's scientists were duped, or the world's scientists are perpetrating a hoax? Seems like you can't make up your mind.

the nay side, by the way.

Do you mean a higher number of qualified people? or people who have a higher degree of qualification? You're wrong either way, but I want to make sure I understand why I should be chuckling...

Where's that disciplined advantage player approach?

Why would anybody care about what such overpopulated, filthy, and socially degenerate third and fourth world far away countries have going on? You must get your talking points from your hypocritical pal that invented the internet.

I don't care about this ridiculous subject anymore,
its like discussing gravity with 15th century Catholics.
Believe what you like, foil hats are always in style. I
never should have responded to the topic, I was
sucked in because nobody ever talks about this
anymore and I forgot the zealots have not died, they
just went underground. Where the people with big
eyes and small toes live.....

I don't really know or care if global warming is real. But if you think it is real then you would have to be a fool to think that the government is the best agency to combat it.

Well, since the answer isn't staggeringly obvious...

You said, "That green environment stuff, it's a hoax..." So I first wanted to see if you can even acknowledge that there is such a thing as pollution. To do that I used the most obvious example of air pollution. Of course, we can't discuss pollution in the U.S. if you won't even concede that such a thing as pollution exists.

Anyway, I think I got my answer, in a way.
