Question:
If you are playing at a 5x odds table and not a 3-4-5x odds table and you play the come then the come odds then the odds pay out 5x for every number?

No, the 5x means you can bet up to 5x your come bet amount as odds. The payouts for odds never change: 2-to-1 on the 4 and 10, 3-to-2 on the 5 and 9, 6-to-5 on the 6 and 8.

Odds.. also known as "free odds" are the 'true mathematical odds".

If you make a place bet, you get paid less than true odds.... if you choose to make a "buy" bet, what you are buying is the true mathematical odds of the event happening.

Payout of a place bet is "nicked" by the casino as a way of their making money.

Payout on a LINE bet is "nicked" by the casino as a way of their making money.

Payout on an "odds bet" is always the true mathematical value and that is the only reason the casino will let you take your odds bet down anytime you want. The odds bet has no edge for them and no edge for you. Its one of the very few bets in the casino that carries no inherent "nick" to benefit the casino.

3x4x5x odds and 5x odds are only a smidgen apart if you consider the sum of your line bet and your odds bet together, the real advantage to the casino and player of 3x4x5x is that the player can keep track of the proper payout eassier, so can the dealers and surveillance ...and the casino benefits from a faster game which means the players deplete their bank roll at a faster rate.

Hope I ain't confusing nobody on this.
