So, just got back from visiting family out of state and made several visits to the local casino.

Here are the highlights.

Day 1

Finished up $ 505 for the day.

Day 2

Finished up $1340 for the day. Yeah, seems like I am always down when I get a signer.

Day 3 started out bad, very bad. I got down quickly and could never get back to even. Even after all these.

This first.

Then this.

And then another.

And another.

At this point I was wondering what I would need to get to get back to even. Not even another 4 aces seemed to help.

Maybe this would get me back to even.

Hmm...not quite, but -$13.50 for the day (odd amount due to some UX wonging) was good enough for me. I ran for the exit after getting paid to contemplate what to do my next trip which would be the next day. But that's for another post as I am curious to see what people think may have happened. At this point no theory would seem implausible. :)

p.s. Yes, $1 DDB 3-5-10 play is a VICIOUS, VICIOUS game.

Day 4

Another dealt quad. Always seem to get the 250 coin variety. And 7's again.

Hey look another 4 aces, no kicker though

Ahh, there it is

Time to go. Finished up $565 for the day.

I'll post day 5 results tomorrow.

How many hours do you play in a given day? How many hands per hour would you estimate you play?

...I'll play VP here and there on plays or other reasons and I play about 900-1000 hands per hour. There's been days where I've played 6 hours of VP that day and not seen 1 dealt quad, no aces, no kickers, etc, etc, etc. How on Earth are you hitting this many hands? lol

Dealt quads happen every 4165 hands on average. You are right, it would not be uncommon at all to go 6 to 10 hours without one.

900-1000 hands an hour? That's...well, that's just wrong!

I thought I played fast, but I'd never counted my hands or anything. And for me, it's more important to hold the right cards than to play fast - but 1000? Even when I play fast, I'd be lucky to hit 700/hr.

Also - not to highjack the thread, don't some places look at how long you play, in addition to the other variables like Coin-in, when determining your comps and stuff? It kind of seems like it would be counter-productive to try to play fast.

The longest time I played was about 6 hours. I did that day 3 when I got the royal and another day I have yet to post pics about. The other days was 2-4 hours. I tend to go on streaks where I get lots of quads and then nothing for an even longer time. As for hands per hour, I do play fast and even hit the buttons to speed up the tallying of credits. Don't have a number of hands per hour but i'm sure its on the high side.

No, it's fairly common in the VP community. My partner and I think we could play 1100-1200 per hour but like you said, we don't want to just blindingly blase through the hands so we usually play about 900-1000, which is still fast, but enough time for us to be sure we're playing correctly. I know for a fact this is how fast we play due to promotions we've played where X coin in gets you Y points, and thus after so many points you can figure how many spins you took within that time frame.

On VP/Slots, time isn't really an important factor. On table games they have your average bet and your time (which equates to hands per hour). In VP/Slots, they know EXACTLY how much you bet and EXACTLY how many hands you've played since it's all done via computer. If I play 1,000 hands per hour and you play 500 hands per hour, I'm going to get the same exact amount of points that you are in half the time. Thus, time doesn't matter. If anything, I would then argue that makes my time there more valuable to the casino considering the longer I play the many more hands than the average person I'll play.

...I haven't seen quad aces in what feels like a royal cycle, lol.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

there are a few places that do factor in time as well however it's usually not worthwhile to play slower just to gain some extra comps. If someone is a 2% advantage the faster you play (accurately )the more money you make per hour.

Only time i play this game is when there is nothing better to play. I have a limit to how much i am willing to lose and if i hit that i stop. I have a win goal of $500 that might move depending on how long i have been playing. I know the longer i play the more likely i am to lose. I'm just looking for some favorable short term variance and then run for the exit. As you see even with all the quad aces i have gotten i'm not exactly that far ahead.

I hear you. Sometimes you just gotta have action. I had nothing to play today except one game. I tried to post a picture and thought I must be really stupid because I could not get it to show up. Now I see that new members have to have 20 posts before they can post links. Maybe I'm not that stupid after all. Well, maybe I am, but that's besides the point. I thought it was pretty cool, I'll have to post it another day.

This casino resides within about 30 minutes of where we grew up. Since neither one of us can really stand our families, when we go home to visit we invariably always end up there for at least one or two visits. Yeah - we completely get that this is major -ev action but neither one of us really care. It is major positive get away from family heartburn action.

When we are in Vegas that is a different story though. We sat next to Bob Dancer most of the day at the Southpoint when he (and others) were burning down the 9/6 DDB Quick Quads play. We sat on that play for 14 hours and the bank was full with sharpies banging them for W2G after W2G. We did not win but others were having quite a lucky day - Bob especially. When we left for dinner, Bob sat down at the machine we played since 5 am (the left end of 4 machines) and eventually hit for 20k sending another good play into the dustbin of history. Bob was raking them over the coals on the play, he collected spin to win bonuses on his and his wife's card, was getting bounce back cash on both his and his wife's card and added a .6% cash card on that day (all legit) while having the "audacity" to win big. In the aftermath, we found out that the Quick Quads bank of machines generated 50% of the casinos entire W2G's for that day. Oh well...Day 5 is looming :)

Ok Day 5 is here. There is a little bad language in this post but I tried to recall exactly what was said and texted. I apologize in advance.

After this quad I was 5-22 on converted dealt trips to a quad on triple play. 5-22 means on 22 sets of dealt trips I converted only 5 of the possible 66 hands to a quad. I like to keep track sometimes to see how my luck is. Today, it was all over the place. Still down $200 for the day after this.

Next up was this one. I was now 7-28 on dealt trip conversion. Yet I am now down $785.

Next was this with the following text I sent to Simon23. "Doing incredibly bad even with this hit. Gonna go to 10 play soon." This was after about 4 hours of total play. Like I said and most of you know, the longer you play a -ev game the much more likely you are to lose. I don't recall the exact amount I was down at this point but it was at least a around 2-3 thousand and after 4 hours of play that was the combination of factors as to why I switched to 5 play. I just wanted it to end one way or the other.

15 minutes later I switched to 10 play and texted this to Simon23. "Sums up my day. 0-1 at 10 play. In complete fuck it mode now. W-2 or bust."
The simon23 texts me back "Pray for luck." Gee why didn't I think of that. :)

I then text him "No luck yet. 1-3 on trips" with the following pic.

Six minutes later I texted "And the beat goes on."

Simon23 texts me back his infinite wisdom "Dealt quad and run." What sage advice, I really should start listening to him. lol

I immediately text him back "Two hands later. Better than a kick in the nuts I suppose." I'm still way down at this point. About $1000 or so from my loss limit. Though Simon23 up to this point doesn't know that. I have given up on keeping track of dealt trip conversions by this point since it was pissing me off too much.

Three minutes later I text him "Unfortunately I am still way down." with the following.
He texts me back "Call me." Uh oh, I think I'm in trouble. Conversation went something like "how the hell are you still down after that. My response was something like "I'm way way down still.""

47 minutes later I text him "I am done!" with the following pic.
Now at this point I was waiting for a phone call from him congratulating me on my good fortune. But no such call happens. While my win is being verified I'm still waiting. 27 minutes later he texts me back "You sent me the same picture." Oops well, that explains why he didn't call me. I sent him the wrong pic.

I then text him back the correct picture "Oops, this is the right one. Up $16,000 for the day."

He texts me "Awesome!!! Definitely time to go home and count your money. Biggest hit of your life. I told you dealt quad and go home." He makes it sound easy doesn't he?

I wasn't able to get a final picture of the jackpot myself as they swept in fast to verify hit. I had to settle for the slot attendant's jackpot picture.
My new desktop background image. :)

The women behind me playing slots said "Gee your so calm." I responded, "I did say Fuck a few times"

Day 6 and the trip home I will post tomorrow.

Nice hit. Interestingly, the win meter rollup and the credit meter rollup aren't exactly in sync in your mid-win photo.

I know, I just would have expected the meters to be in sync the whole time. It's not as simple as rounding because the final digits are 9 and 1. I wonder what the display algorithm is. Maybe Wiz can ping his IGT contact and ask.

Day 6

So, after my miracle hit, I was actually a bit apprehensive about going back for more play. I took a day off to really think if I wanted one more go at it. After thinking of the alternative, spending time with my siblings, I decided I would try one more trip before heading home. So, I head to the casino and find my machine, sit down, and start playing. 61st hand in I get this:

Now I'm thinking "what the hell do I do now." I hit my win goal of $500 as I am not ahead $1865 for the day. I should go home and start packing. But at this point I'm thinking I have had an incredibly long streak of good luck do I want to walk away now. So, I call Simon23 and tell him I have no idea what I should do. He tells me to take just $1000 and try 10 play. If I lose that, then walk away. Seems reasonable to me since at this point. So, I put in 10 $100 bills start playing and less then 10 minutes later......

I lost the $1000 and went home. Oh well. Time to pack and head home the next day.

So, next day I stopped by another casino on the way home. Just screwing around on some Hot Roll 5 cent 10 play and I got these:

I actually lost all this money on these 2 machines then tried $500 more on 5 play DDB. No pics from those machines but I did manage quad 4's for $400 and quad 5's for $250. I left that casino down $15 from being down about $400.

Finished my trip home at another casino and picked up another $40 vulturing some UX.

This was without a doubt the best week of gambling I have ever experienced. I just hope the pendulum doesn't swing too far the other way next time I go (which should be the end of April).

Sounds like you had a bunch of fun, I thought I could hear the adrenalin.

You maybe should maybe try harder to be 'at ease' with your, and your wife's, siblings/family. You may have regrets when the opportunities are long gone.

Nuttin' wrong with taking a little break here and there though (and reporting here ).
Thx again. cheers, 2F

LOL - we have big regrets when we go home and DON'T hit this casino but I understand the sentiment. Usually we go about 4-5 am (nobody to compete with us on UX vulturing) so we can have some gambling time and still be back for lunch and the rest of the day.
