It's not so much about the edge, as it is about the system. 8 units on each inside number, when it hits, pays you enough so you can drop to 2 units each, and still have a little profit left over. I like having 2 unit minimums, because you can then hit and press, while still pocketing a profit.

And for this system, It's OK if it's a $2 minimum, as long as they use quarters to allow those fractional units.

For the record, I did something similar at a $5 table at Mohegan Sun CT, in Dec, 2009. $88 inside. That's 4 units on each. Drop to $22 to make it 1 unit each. I don't like pressing one unit another full unit, but what can you do?

At that table, every shooter was a 4 or 5 roll shooter. I.E. They hit one inside number, some hit two, but that's about it. Everyone was losing, except me and the Don't bettors.

I just stayed 4 days at the El Cortez last week and never saw a $1 min. I played at all shifts during the week. Of course a $3 min table, I did not ask if they had $1 game at times. The have 50 cent coins and some 50 cent checks. They said they had nothing smaller. So a $10 Buy 4 cost 50 cents as does a $20 Lay 4. That was cool.

As for the Western, never been there, I would not walk down the street to it or even drive there. So I do not know. A phone call to them should result in an answer, maybe.

I saw a $1 table on one of my Vegas trips in 2010 at the Hacienda near Boulder City, but I don't think they had fractional chips. Last place I saw those myself at a craps table was at Nevada Palace, before it was remodeled by means of big yellow equipment.

Last fall I played craps in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where they limited odds to 2x. They allowed 2.5x on points of 6 and 8 and had $2.50 chips to help make it easier to get even payouts, such as a $5 pass line bet with $12.50 odds paying $5 plus $15. Those $2.50 chips probably don't help much with the place bets.

As for recommending a system myself, I think I would need to have the player hooked up to an Entertainment-O-Meter, with the betting system being to modify wagers to get the meter to the highest reading you can for that individual player.

Craps... let the shooter roll 4 times, place a come bet. Next roll place the 6&8 if not the come# or buy the 4&10 for at least 20. I avoid a lot of crappy shooters this way. After the come has paid or a 2nd hit on the place or buy... I might go up on either the 5 or 9 and press a unit.

Like the earlier post, after the come out (on a 5 min table) 25 on the 5, 30 on the 6 & 8 and twelve in the field. Assuming you don't see the 7 here are your options:

shooter rolls a:
2-you can take down your place bets and field-have 22 to go inside with 2 bucks left over. pay or press until your hearts content

3,4,9,10,11-take down your place and field and put 6 on the 6 & 8

5,6,8 you lose your field--move down all place bets to single unit and go up on the nine with a buck for that hop bet you love!

12-take your money off the field, go down to 22 inside with 14 left over or put an extra unit each on the 6 & 8 and double up on those hops!

7-you're F%CKED!! But hey now were gambling!! I think you have an 86% chance of not getting banged by that 7 but murphy's law will dictate otherwise.

The most I have ever tried with this is 75,90,90 with 36 in the field. It can put you in a position to get a decent amount in front of a hot roll, if they make the first point then by all means get a unit on the pass line.

I am sure you could do just fine with quarters.

actually 25 cents is the same as $25 when it comes to place bets.

I used to teach craps at dealers school in Reno back in the 90s and would "torture" my students with 25 cent checks and place bets. It really makes you think in units until you know the payouts.
5 pays 7, 5 quarters pays 7 quarters
6 pays 7 etc.

Once you have 25 cent bets down, in units, you can easily deal a $25 game. Just different color checks.
$1.50 place 6 pays $1.75
$150 place 6 pays $175

I had one student pass an audition at a craps table because he knew how to pay quarters. He was dealing 2nd base, a high roller bought in, went $800 across, and before box could remove the "auditioning dealer", because the high roller wanted him to deal to him, the next roll was a 5 followed by an 8.
$8 across and $800 across are the same bets, in units that is. One should buy the 4&10 at those high bets though.

Do you have to win a certain amount of money? If I had to bet a certain amount of money but there was no stipulation of how it was bet I'd find the house bet with the least edge (craps line bet) and bet an equal amount on each of the two outcomes.

huh? bet the do and the dont? you'll lose on the 12 coming out and push on everything else.

The OP's preise brings up two interesting questions:

1) would the casino personnel be moved to call the cops on account of a player being held to the tale at gun point?

2) would even being held at gunpoint be enough for a self-respectable gambler to resort to a system?
