For progressive payouts, where the big, BIG bet is won and there is also a second winner of a lesser (10% of full progressive amount) bet, what happens? For example, does the casino always pay the major bonus first, then reset the progressive win amount to some lower amount, and then pay the lesser winner 10% of the lower amount? Or, does the casino pay by seat order? So, if the person winning the lesser bet amount would normally be paid before the big winner, does that player receive 10% of the (larger) full progressive bet amount, and not 10% of the reset (smaller) bet amount?

A few months ago WoV members kicked around this issue, with most agreeing casinos would pay each winner the same proportion of the available progressive amount. Here's the data from my recent visit to Biloxi casinos.

  • Golden Nugget – The Floor passed me to another suit (walking past just then) as THE person to answer my questions. Mr. Expert said the progressive bet winner would receive the full progressive bet amount, the bet amount would reset to a (lower) starting amount, and the straight-flush winner would get 10 percent of the reset amount.
  • Hard Rock - Currently has no progressive bonus bets (but I checked).
  • Harrahs – Table Floor said the casino currently had no active Progressive bonus bets, but it soon expected to have a progressive bonus bet. I was told the payout would be proportional, but the Table Floor said, “Don't quote me on this.” Good idea. Later, while scouting tables at Harrahs, I saw table felts offering a $100K bonus bet, like what we discussed (but those tables where not open when I visited).
  • IP – Payout would be proportional. If the two winning amounts totaled 100% plus 10%, then the winning bets would both be lowered to divide up the money available for payout.
  • Island View – Payout would be proportional, like IP payout.
  • Scarlet Pearl – Payout would be proportional, like IP payout.
